Morning did not come lightly to Thomas as he sat, slumped in his large armchair facing the now-dead fire. Light seemed to lightly float into the room against the curtains, making the ceiling glow in a gentle effulgence; in some ways, Thomas was glad that the glare from the morning sun was muted, for the night before was terribly hectic and he felt a long, uninterrupted slumber was obligatory.
